UAE compliance

Attendance that speaks the Wage Protection System natively

The UAE Wage Protection System (WPS) requires an authenticated SIF file listing worked hours, overtime and absences per employee, cycle after cycle. Timesync exports the SIF directly, tested against a live payroll run at handover.

  • Direct SIF export in every payroll cycle
  • Reconciles to your bank's WPS file
  • MOL-aligned overtime and rest-day rules
  • Tested at handover, not a promise

Why WPS drives every attendance decision in the UAE

Since 2009 the UAE Ministry of Labour has required private-sector employers to pay wages through the Wage Protection System. The SIF (Salary Information File) that goes to the bank each cycle is only as accurate as the underlying hours, overtime and absence records. If attendance is on paper or spreadsheets, the SIF reconciles by hand and errors compound: one missed overtime code turns into a fine or a delayed payroll. A biometric attendance system that exports the SIF directly closes that loop.

How Timesync handles WPS end-to-end

Every step, from punch to SIF, tested at handover.

Native SIF export format

Attendance exports directly as the bank-ready SIF text file: employee ID, wage code, hours, overtime, deductions. No CSV-to-SIF conversion step, no VBA macros, no manual reconciliation.

MOL-aligned overtime rules

Overtime capped at 25% base wage on weekdays, 50% at night and rest days, 150% on public holidays. Encoded once at setup, applied automatically forever.

Public holiday and Ramadan calendars

UAE public holidays and the reduced Ramadan working day are first-class rules in the software. No manual roster adjustments each year.

Leave reconciles to WPS

Approved paid leave, unpaid leave and sick leave all reflect in the SIF with the correct wage code. Nothing manual; nothing missed.

End-of-service gratuity ready

Length of service and worked-days totals feed the gratuity calculation. Reports export in the format your finance system consumes.

Bilingual export for HR and MOL

SIF export and human-readable reports available in English and Arabic. MOL inspectors and internal HR review the same format.

Who needs WPS-compliant attendance

Effectively every UAE private-sector employer, with these being the most common asks.

Construction and site-based operators

Hundreds of workers, three shifts, per-project cost allocation, WPS export monthly with zero manual work.

Multi-branch retail and hospitality

One consolidated SIF file covering every outlet. Payroll runs against a single source; each branch manager sees their own team.

Facilities management and cleaning

Site-based crews on the mobile app; office staff on the terminal. Both reconcile to one WPS cycle.

Manufacturing and warehousing

Shift-driven WPS export with per-line cost allocation. Overtime capped at MOL limits automatically.

Free-zone tenants (DMCC, JAFZA, ADGM, RAKEZ)

Free-zone-audit-ready records plus WPS SIF export in the same cycle. Two documents, one system.

SME offices under 100 staff

Starter bundle with terminal, cloud software and WPS export at one fixed price. Scales as you grow.

WPS-compliant attendance questions

What is the SIF file WPS requires?

The Salary Information File is a bank-formatted text file listing employees, wage codes, worked hours, overtime, deductions and net pay. Every private-sector employer submits it through their WPS-registered bank each pay cycle. Timesync exports the SIF directly.

Does Timesync produce the SIF for every UAE bank?

Yes. The SIF format is standardised by the Ministry of Labour and used identically by every WPS-registered bank. Our export works out of the box with Emirates NBD, ADCB, Mashreq, RAKBANK, ENBD Business Banking and every other WPS bank.

Can attendance handle Ramadan reduced hours?

Yes. Ramadan working hours (two-hour reduction for Muslim employees) are a first-class rule in the software. Overtime and daily-cap calculations use the correct base for each employee, no manual roster editing.

How is overtime calculated to satisfy MOL rules?

Weekday overtime pays 125% of base wage; night-time and rest-day pay 150%; public holidays pay 250% (150% overtime on top of the 100% holiday wage). All three are automatic per employee based on the shift pattern and time captured.

What if we hire new employees mid-cycle?

Enrol at any time, pro-rata calculations run from the join date. First WPS cycle after joining includes only the days worked; no manual reconciliation.

Can we run WPS for a mix of monthly and hourly staff?

Yes. Wage type is a per-employee setting; monthly, hourly, daily and contract-worker wage types coexist in one export. Each calculated per its own rules.
